This is a game where players run their own racing team , acting as the main driver . As players progress they have a sponsor and can hire a team to drive with them on special occasions . The game begins with the player receiving the job to push for other teams to earn money , and once a player gains enough capital they can buy their own vehicle and drive independently , and continue to push for the other team should they choose to . Grid has a gameplay mechanic known as Flashback which allows the player to rewind the gameplay up to ten seconds and resume from the point they choose . This is a feature limited use , is determined by the difficulty setting .
